PRAYER UPDATE. May to Oct.6, 2021My brothers & sisters,
On Sept. 21 the 7th and final feast of The Law of the Old Testament, Tabernacles, finished. There is a Jewish tradition which connects this Feast with water. The Biblical reference is Isaiah 12:2-3 “Behold, God (El) is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD (Ya) JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Therefor with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.” On the 8th and great final day of Tabernacles Jesus was in the Temple area and stood up and cried “If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” John 7:37-38 Jesus was speaking about the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the well of salvation! Drink deep! I mentioned in the May letter of the man sleeping on the bus bench near me. Months passed and I did not succeed in speaking to him. Then it happened in August! We talked for about 1 + ½ hours! He is an Egyptian and my limited knowledge of Arabic was helpful. He has been sleeping out for 14 years. I assume he is of Muslim background. He took a small booklet in Arabic with 48 pages. In July there was a 3-week tour in France. Posters went up, tracts went out and Christians were visited. At an Independent Baptist Bible Conference I gave about 250 posters to Jaques Legrand. Presidential elections will be in April , 24, 2022 so the poster-boards will be full during their campaigns. The tract distribution continues. In Septembe as I went to get our garbage bin by the road I heard a mother speak to her little child in Romanian. I offered her a tract in RO which she took. In my walks there are some wonderful responses to the tracts. A Muslim woman stopped to read the tract which caused her to ask me questions. Many of my neighbors are Muslims. A son of an Algerian neighbor who is Kabyle asked of what Christians believe about salvation. Will I go to heaven if I do not believe in Jesus that the Bible teaches? The Kabyle language is a Berber language and the Kabyle are a Berber ethnic group. They were originally Christian but were converted to Islam as the Muslims moved westward in north Africa. They are usually more open to hearing about Jesus than other Muslims. Kabyle reaches the Mediterranean just west of Algiers, Algeria. On Sept. 15 I had a cataract surgery on right eye. In the preoperating room I spoke to 2 Jewish doctors before I passed out from the anesthesia. That evening Yom Kippur started. 21 days later I see gradual improvement, but I have not yet driven my van. My left eye has an almost dead optic nerve. Due to my swollen prostate of 30 years I have trouble with urine flow. I have not sought the operation that the urologist surgeon suggests. I have a “trigger finger” I am trying to learn to live with. I have no plan for a trip to East Europe or to Israel. I am there in my prayers and correspondence. Your financial & prayer support is appreciated.Michael David Bentley Isaiah 40:8-10
